Settings
Borno offers a wide range of configuration options to customize your typing experience, interface, and behavior. You can access the Settings window by clicking the Settings icon on the Topbar or from the System Tray menu.
The Settings window is divided into three main sections: General, Interface, and Input.
General
The General section controls the basic behavior and startup options of Borno.
Behavior
- [ ] Remember Last Input Layout: If enabled, Borno will remember your last used Bangla layout (e.g., Borno, Avro) and restore it the next time you switch to Bangla mode or restart the application.
- [ ] Start with Windows: Enable this to have Borno launch automatically whenever you start your computer.
Start as ⌄
Choose the default visibility of Borno when it starts:
- Topbar: Launches with the floating toolbar visible on your screen.
- System Tray: Launches minimized in the system tray (notification area).
- Last State: Restores the same visibility state (Topbar or Tray) that was active when Borno was last closed.
Switching Mode ⌄
- Global (All Windows): Switching your keyboard layout (e.g., from English to Bangla) will apply to all open applications.
- Per Application/Window: The keyboard layout state is maintained independently for each application. Switching to Bangla in one window won't affect other windows.
Interface
The Interface section allows you to customize the look and feel of Borno's UI components.
App Theme ⌄
Select from a variety of built-in and custom themes. Changing the theme updates the appearance of both the Topbar and the Candidate Window.
Candidate Window
- [ ] Show Candidate Window: Toggle the visibility of the word suggestion window that appears while typing.
- Orientation ⌄:
- Horizontal: Suggestions are displayed side-by-side.
- Vertical: Suggestions are displayed in a list format.
- [ ] Fixed Height: Keeps the height of the candidate window consistent, regardless of the number of suggestions.
- [ ] Use OS Default Bangla Font: By default, Borno uses its high-quality embedded font. Check this to use your Windows system's default Bangla font instead.
- [ ] Enable Slide Animations: Adds smooth sliding transitions when the candidate window appears or changes content.
Topbar Visibility
- [ ] Enable Idle Dimming: When active, the Topbar will become semi-transparent when your mouse is not over it.
- Idle Opacity (%): Adjust the transparency level (from 10% to 100%) when the Topbar is dimmed.
- Idle Time (Seconds): Set how long the Topbar should wait before it starts dimming.
Input
The Input section focuses on keyboard shortcuts and how you interact with suggestions.
